With her sixth-place performance in the series, Alessandra Keller won both the cross-country and short-track championships. Defending rainbow jersey holder Pauline Ferrand-Prevot (Absolut-Absalon-BMC) capped up the Mountain Bike World Cup Series with a cross-country win at Val di Sole.

The challenging ascents and descents in Val di Sole, Italy, hosted the world championships in 2017.

In the first lap, Loana Lecomte (Canyon Collective) and Jolanda Neff (Trek Factory) gained a few seconds ahead of Ferrand-Prévot; however, by the end of the second lap, Ferrand-Prévot had caught up to them, and Neff was left behind.

The World Champion began pulling away from her countryman Lecomte about the halfway point of the race and never looked back, eventually crossing the finish line almost a minute and a half ahead of her closest competitor.

Lecomte maintained a commanding second place, while Jolanda Neff of Trek Factory came in third.

In the post-race interview, Ferrand-Prévot commented, “It was really a nice day because I could play on my bike and push hard on the hills so I felt extremely happy.” Since today’s victory is the last possible one, I’m overjoyed.

Keller, who was competing for the World Cup championship with early season leader Rebecca McConnell (Primaflora Mondraker Genuins), finished in sixth place, giving her a 56-point advantage over McConnell, who finished in nineteenth place.

Despite being the only other rider in the hunt for the championship, Anne Terpstra (Ghost Factory) had a rough day and was removed from the race after just four circuits. Despite this, she finished third in the overall standings, eight points behind McConnell.
